This journal is Friends Only! If you want to be added, comment me, let me know who you are, and how you found my journal. Also let me know what fandoms you're a part of, cuz more likely than not, you found me thru one of my many fandoms. That is all! ^_^

EDIT: If I already added you as a friend, then disregard this post. It's just that a number of people have tried adding me, and I have no friggin clue who they are. I don't mind adding new people, I'd just like to know who you are, ya know?

America's Best Dance Crew 2 Finale
I only know of 2 people on my f-list that actually watch this show and I've already discussed this w/ them, but just in case, I'll put this behind a cut so that there's no spoilers for people who haven't watched the finale yet:

WANT
Two things:

1) Sympathy for Lady Vengeance is an awesome movie

and

2) I MUST have the leather jacket she wears in that movie, with the awesome face-covering, ninja-esque collar. Have yet to find a good screencap of it though.

With that being said, now I have to watch the other two movies in the Revenge trilogy: Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Oldboy. Soon....

The Greatest Dance Battle of All Time
Stephen Colbert vs. Rain

Freakin EPIK. That's right. It was so good, you have to spell epic with a "k". I'm not even a Rain fan and I was spazzing like CRAZY. The best part? I had called it months ago. I always said that they should have a dance off, and since Rain is in the Speed Racer movie, now's the perfect oppurtunity to take advantage of it. Hell, I should start predicting awesome collaborations more often. My next hope? DBSK/Tohoshinki on Cartoon KAT-TUN....^_~

P.S. My semester is over so I'll actually be around more often. Can't wait to see everybody at ACen!

Angry with anger!

Ok, USUALLY I don't get all caught up in TV shows and let them effect how I feel. But srsly America, what the FUCK?! Status Quo got more votes than Kaba Modern AND the Jabbawockeez? Kaba Modern and the Jabbawockeez were in the bottom? Do you guys have any idea how ridiculously PISSED I was watching America's Best Dance Crew last night? I was yelling and cussing up a storm. UGH. I felt bad cuz I was watching it at Jasmine's house and they all had to put up with me simultaneously yelling at the TV and complaining to Linna and Nolan on the phone. It makes no sense, EVERYBODY loves Kaba and Jabba. I really don't get it. The only thing that makes sense is that everybody assumed that Kaba and Jabba would get tons of votes, so they tried helping Status by voting for them. Either that or the black community banded together and voted for them. Way to fail, Asian community. Way to fail.

I know this is stupid, but I LOVED those two crews. Loved them. They were amazing. And I always wanted to see them battle each other, but not til the finale. But Kaba went bye bye. *tear* Luckily Jabba made it and they're my absolute favorite. If you guys have unlimited texting or you just feel like helping an awesome crew, text 2 to 23882. 2 is for Jabbawockeez, 23882 is the number you have to text. Me and Nolan have already texted about 70 times each, but judging by this week, it's just not enough so please PLEASE help us out.

Ok, ok. I'm done. To sum up this whole post....RAWR.

The Marketing of Male Homosocial and Homoerotic Behavior in Japan
So yeah....my long awaited paper for my Anthropology of Gender, Sexuality, and the Body. Before I say anything else, I just want to thank everybody who helped out, no matter how small their contribution. You guys saved me and my grade! My professor loved it and gave me an A. Unfortunately, it's not as good as it could've been. Since I'm a huge procastinator, I waited til the day before to write it, leaving a lot of embarassing grammatical errors (I'm an English major for God's sake! Ugh, how could I have missed some of those?!).

I also had to cut out the section about South Korea, which sucks since I've been obsessed with them lately and it involved some of my favorite artists. Since it was only 15 pages long, I had to edit carefully and if I had left the parts about South Korea in there, it would have just diluted my paper. I'll make sure to include them next time I do a paper like this, on a much grander scale.

For those of you who want to read it on Word or print it out, here's the dl link:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C7NK0HOY

For people who'd rather just read it here:

For some reason, the font and spacing went all wacky when I tried to paste it here, so uh....please ignore that. I assure you that the paper I turned in is nothing like that. O_o

What should I name my iPod?
Yay, my new 80 GB iPod arrived today! Now the question is....wth should I name it? I gave my trusty ol 30 GB YunKiShiHae (Yunho, Koki, Shige, Donghae) to James. I suppose I could do the same thing with this one and toss in TOP and Tablo too, but it's just too much. You guys tend to be pretty creative, so toss some ideas my way. It doesn't have to be fangirly, although that's a plus. Something cute and fun that kind of seems like me. I almost thought Pantalaimon, after Lyra's daemon, but am I really that geeky? Eh....

In other news, my AADBSK2 posters arrived today! Friggin HAWT! I have to rearrange an entire wall to fit them in, but I don't care! Totally worth buying it twice. Although I'm annoyed cuz even though I bought my DBSK calendar at least a week before Linna's SuJu one, I got an email today saying they shipped hers out but mine's been delayed til the 16th! Stupid Linna.

I feel like there's something I should be adding here but I'm too eager to go downstairs and finish filling up my new iPod, so for now, peace out, bitches!

EDIT: What's this I hear about a Super Junior concert in the Philippines?! Shit, sounds like it's time for me to visit my beloved family....:D

w00t, I had a fangirl dream!

It's so weird, I NEVER used to have fangirl dreams. Amber, JJ, and Linna were having crazy ass ones left and right, but me? Nothin. In fact, Linna's first few fangirl dreams were all about MY favorite guys. That hussy. Anyhoo, I finally had two a few weeks ago and they were both about Koki. The first one was DAMN good, but I don't remember much about the 2nd one. I just woke up from a long ass nap and probably the best dream that I've ever had. I know that seems sad as hell, but honestly, I dream very rarely. And if I do, I almost never remember them. I'm more prone to daydreams since I'm always spacing out. But I digress.

There was a crapload of people in my dream. Apparently, I had gone online and saw that Big Bang and Epik High were touring together in the U.S. and were stopping in Chicago. So of course I had to text all my fangirl friends right away, letting them know their asses are coming with me and we are gonna be FIRST FRIGGIN ROW. La di da, time goes by, and we're at the concert. It's me, Linna, Jacqui, Amber, JJ, Danielle, and I think I even dragged along Orouge, Kim, and Sam (the last 3 are recent fangirl converts from school) and we're all front row. The concert was awesome, and TOP had wiped himself with his Big Bang bandana and gave it to me with a wink. HAWT.

After the concert, both bands were out there signing autographs and whatnot, and when I reached Tablo, I told him, "I know you probably hear this all the time, but you're my hero and I think you're amazing." Apparently flattery is the trick, cuz he then invited me and the girls backstage to hang out with them all. I don't remember much after that except that they invited us to their New York concert, all expenses paid, and that me and TOP were together a lot and he was F'IN HAWT. I mean like, DAMN kind of hot. It was weird cuz I mean, I really like him, but I have never thought of him as that hot until this dream. Oh yeah, we also all exchanged phone numbers/emails since they were gonna be in Chicago for a week and I think we went shopping downtown. O_o But yeah....good times, yo.

P.S. I don't think I wanna go into detail about what it was that made TOP so damn hot, but uh, yeah....once again, best dream ever. ^_~

The Marketing of Male Homosexuality in Asia
Wondering what's up with the subject of this entry? Well, for my final research paper in my Anthropology of Gender, Sexuality, and the Body, I decided to tackle a subject I've always been curious about: the marketing of male homosexuality in Asia and the women who love it. Ever since I got into fandom (anime, live action, music, etc.), I've noticed a ridiculous amount of fans are into the yaoi/shounen-ai thing. And I've wondered what it is about that particular subgenre that makes it so popular that Asia (Japan and Korea especially) will market so much of their entertainment towards that fanbase. So for part of the research, I have a few questions that I would like as many people as possible to answer, whether or not they like this particular subgenre; the fact that I'm not into yaoi yet know so much about it can actually be more telling than 10 seasoned yaoi fans raving about it.

I've already done a smaller paper on this earlier in the class; it was a 10-page paper based around two interviews and the analyzing of two media examples pertaining to my subject. My professor loved the paper and seemed very interested, so I want to tackle it on a larger scope. This final paper is at least 15 pages and has to draw on at least 5 individual interviews, 5 observations, and 5 scholarly articles. I have almost all of that, but supplementary information would be a HUGE help. Also, if you'd like to see the sample methods paper I had done on this subject, here it is, along with a 3 page glossary of terms: methods assignment Glossary Two media examples I analyzed:

The glossary had to be included, because throughout the interviews there were many fandom terms used that a regular person would never understand. Now I know why people who aren’t into this kind of thing always look at me and my friends all crazy; we might as well actually be speaking Japanese or Korean for all the crazy terminology that we use.

EDIT! My questionnaire is now closed, thank you to all those who participated!

Fuck you LJ
Some might have noticed I'm never around here anymore (well, no one noticed I'm sure, but still), and that's mostly cuz LJ's a pain in the ass that won't let me post long posts. Some girl can post a 15 page fanfic, but heaven forbid I try to post more than a paragraph. Since I won't be on LJ much, my life has been consumed by Phoenix Wright 1 and 2 (I beat both this week), so I'll probably try to catch up with other games/books/dramas until LJ decides to stop being a dick. I'm sure I'll see/talk to most of you eventually. Peace out, yo.

Who Would You Cast For Fruits Basket Live-Action?
All right, so me and [info]simplyobessed  were up late one night, talking about Johnny's boys (Johnny's Entertainment, famous talent agency for Japanese boy bands) and live-action dramas of manga/anime we like, and we thought, "Hey, if Fruits Baskets is full of hot/beautiful guys, what would a live-action be like?" Well, more like the casting, since live-action FB would be a little, well, odd, to say the least. But yeah, after giggling all night like fangirls, here's what we came up with:

DISCLAIMER: As far as we know, there is no live-action in production, this is all in fun. I would love to hear your comments and see your choices, but please, NO FLAMING or complaining that our choices are dumb. Of course this is dumb, a good chunk of these choices were pure fangirl fantasy, silly. ^_~

Ha ha, so there you have it! We plan on working on an Ouran High School Host Club one next. ^_~ Hope you enjoyed our bit of silliness. Comments welcome!

Mia needs help with her cosplay!

Ok, for my Queen of Hearts cosplay, I want to have a high collared, waist length cape with closures at the throat. I suck at sewing and was hoping Amber could help me, but that bitch is never around. >< So does anyone know how to make one? I also need to make a matching skirt. The corset I bought for the outfit is pretty hawt, but once again, buying online sucks. The measurements they posted were off and my breastuses refuse to fit, even though the ebay description says it will stretch to fit all sizes. So it looks like I'mma have to ghetto up my outfit to make everything work for me. And my freakin shoes from Cosworx still haven't arrived. I need to send them an email, cuz this is just getting ridiculous, and I absolutely need those shoes.

I've been meaning to make a real post for a long time, but soooo lazy. And this is not gonna be a real post, so :p

Can someone please upload this Jin Akanishi song for me?
Ok, so crunchyroll.com is muy awesome, and I was watching some MVs and I came across this Jin Akanishi one and I LOVE this song and video:

It's so damn good, but I can't find a place to dl it anywhere. It's called Hesitate and it's performed live, so I figure Danielle or Maia would know where I could dl it or possibly upload it for me if they already have it.

I'm too lazy to put up a real update even though I'm way overdue for one, so this'll have to do. Thanks in advance, yo!

P.S. The JE boys gliding around on skates in the background cracks me up everytime.

Orange Days
Well, I just finished this series a few minutes ago, and it's so good! It leaves you with that bittersweet feeling you get when you finish a good series or book. Orange Days is sad and cute and funny and happy and endearing and uplifting and all that good, mushy crap that a drama should be. The acting is good, the main characters have great chemistry, plus it has Hiroki Narimiya in it! <3 Highly recommended, you guys should definitely check it out. In case you wanna know more about it:

Kai Yuuki (Satoshi Tsumabuki) is in his senior year at university studying social welfare psychology. At present, he is in the middle of job-hunting season. He is finding it difficult with no job offers so far.
One day, he meets a girl who is playing violin in the campus. She is Sae Hagio (Kou Shibasaki). In marked contrast to her beautiful tone and attractive looks, her personality is somewhat impertinent. And to top it off, she communicates through very vulgar sign language.
Four years ago, she lost the most important thing for a violinist - her hearing. As a result Sae closed off her inner self from the outside world.
Kai finds himself on a date with Sae, in place of his best friend. Unexpectedly, he comes into contact with Sae's private side.
Love, job-hunting, friendship... Setting a campus in spring as a dorama`s backdrop, it's the start of a glittering youth drama.

I hate waiting for release dates!

Rawr. Waiting for manga release dates sucks ass. I have a shitload of reading I have to do for school, not to mention studying for my Human Variations makeup exam on Tuesday, but instead I choose to read and re-read my manga. Why? Cuz I'm an idiot. Plus lately I've only been in the mood for light reading. I just finished volume 6 of Death Note, but it's so hard to keep reading even though this manga is fantastic. It's just so...heavy. I have enough drama and crap going on in my life, that it's a relief to just sit down with an apple or cup of milk tea and read something cute and fluffy. Unfortunately, the latest volumes are taking forever! Fruits Basket volume 16 comes out in April, volume 6 of NANA (ok, it's not light and fluffy, but I <3 this series to death) doesn't come out til June, and Ouran Host Club volume 9 doesn't come out til July.

NANA's not that big a deal since I've read up til at least volume 16 or 17 online, but I just like owning the actual manga cuz it's a great series. As for Host Club, I already bitched about the scanslation thingy. Thing's are starting to get REALLY good, and I accidentally stumbled across some spoilers that make me want to keep on reading. Btw, Amber, you better be reading it! I'm not trying to overhype the series, but I know so few people who've read it that I need someone to fangirl with. That leaves me with Fruits Basket. This series just finished up in Japan and I actually dled all the scanslations. But for some reason, I just don't wanna read them. I kinda enjoy the anticipation of waiting to see what happens next. When I have the scanslations of something, I tend to just zip right through them. I'm super impatient when it comes to stuff like that, I just HAVE to know what happens next. But since I love this series so much, I guess I wanna be able to just slowly savor it. I first started reading Host Club through scanslations, so that's why I have no problem reading it that way, and NANA takes for-freakin-ever to come out, so I gots ta read it that way. But Fruits Basket was the first manga I ever bought (it was only $5 at Hot Topic and I heard good things about it, so I picked it up) and decided to collect, so I guess I just want to keep it up that way. Heh, I'm such a loser. ^^;;

Mars the manga
Well, I just finished the Mars series and I must say, it was a damn good read. I'm too lazy to go in depth about it, and I'm not gonna post spoilers or anything. My only complaint is the ending. Idk, it doesn't leave me with the happy, yet bittersweet sense of completion that I always get when I finish a good book or series. I read the ending and was just like, "......hm. So it's over. Good stuff." Not necessarily anti-climactic, but definitely lacking something. For any of you guys who have read it, did you feel the same?

All right, I just watched Kagen no Tsuki: Last Quarter, and twas quite a good movie. However, I am really confuzzled at something in the end. Nothing spoilerish, and probably not even a big deal, but I just wanna know:

At the end, when Mizuki's about to hold Tomoki (aka Nari, hawtest Japanese dude EVA)'s hand, what's the deal w/ the ring he's wearing? Cuz she looked all startled by it or something. Did it have some sort of significance? Anyone who's seen this movie, HELP! *coughAmbercough*
